ABOUT
Sononimi is a collaborative sound database developed in dialogue with a sound installation presented at Pixxelpoint. Bringing together unique sounds from participating artists, it extends the installation into a shared, evolving resource that will remain active beyond the festival, welcoming contributions from other artists and sound explorers.
The collection centres on distinctive sound techniques and articulations, spanning improvised music, field recording, modular synthesis, acousmatic music, and everything in between. By sharing the ways we create and shape sound, we open up new perspectives on our own musical ideas and discover possibilities through the practices of others.
Sononimi invites us to combine our own sounds and playing techniques with material contributed by artists whose instruments, methods, and experiences may be unfamiliar to us. Through listening, exchange, and experimentation, these sounds can be reimagined and transformed into entirely new sonic entities. In searching for synonyms for our musical expression, we create something new: a Sononim.
Beginning with the installation at Pixxelpoint and continuing as an ongoing collective project, Sononimi is a space for sounds, ideas, and collaborations to grow. Explore the database, transform what you find, and contribute your own sounds to its expanding vocabulary.

There, they made hours of sound explorations and recordings. Additionally, they were joined by a fantastic video artist, Atej Tutta. One of the visual results can be seen in the video, and obviously, you can hear and download the recorded letterpress sounds.
